How To Put Laptop Touchpad off?

Just add
Option “SHMConfig” “on” in /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Section “InputDevice”
Identifier “Synaptics”
Driver “synaptics”
Option “Device” “/dev/input/mice”
Option “Protocol” “auto-dev”
Option “Emulate3Buttons” “yes”
Option “SHMConfig” “on”

Restart Xserver

Now to turn off execute this command
$ synclient TouchpadOff=1

To turn on
$ synclient TouchpadOff=0

$ man syndaemon

This worked for me in CentOS 5.2
